St. Mary’s Sewanee welcomes back presenter, Anneli Virkhaus, a Music Therapist, MT-BC & Intuitive Sound & Energy Healer. She will be discussing the healing power of the breath.
This workshop is for people of all ages and is fun, safe, and effective. Bring some ease and joy into your life and come experience the power of deep breathing.
Breath is essential to life. Developing a regular daily practice of deep breathing is one of the best tools for improving your health and well-being.
Pranayama or breathwork is the science of breath control first practiced in India thousands of years ago. The techniques of pranayama teach you how to consciously take control over your breathing and bring more oxygen into your body.
Breathwork practices are simple and proven practices that can be implemented anywhere to get maximum results quickly. Breathwork practices do not involve any religious or spiritual beliefs and anyone can learn to do them in order to enhance their daily lives.
Breathwork has been scientifically proven to lower blood pressure, boost immunity, release muscle tension, increase oxygen levels, reduce anxiety and depression, induce a sense of peace and calmness, increase levels of awareness, increase energy levels, aid in emotional healing, and help people feel more connected to themselves and the world.
In this workshop learn about the ancient breathwork practices and the physiological, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits. You will learn about and practice several yogic styles of breathwork, as well as other styles of breathwork that have profound effects. This workshop is experiential and will allow you to experience the power of breathwork first hand.
