Her story: Flowing Waters was a private estate transformed by Laurel Houghton about a decade ago, for a smaller retreat center that would bring "over domesticated" people to an experience of meditation/reflection in the power, peace, and beauty of wilderness, while relaxing in comfortable lodging.
Laurel, who had many years backpacking the Sierra ranges, became convinced of the spiritual power of Mt Shasta after a few visits to the area. Flowing Waters Retreat is the first licensed Mt Shasta spiritual retreat center of multiple residences and open to a diversity of paths, now having served hundreds of groups, families, couples and solos. Now at retirement age, Laurel is passing it forward and is willing to support future owners with lots of info. to facilitate an easy, smooth transition.
