My wife and I never tire of the ocean view. Dramatic sunsets, waves breaking on the beach, endless variations of cloud formations, tropical birds ascending from the fishing village, all from the deck, the kitchen, or the porches.
Our 21 acres is five minutes from Playa San Miguel and Playa Bejuco, remote from the tourist population. The beaches are pristine and underutilized. It is not uncommon to be only one of a few people taking advantage of miles of classic Pacific coast beaches.
We are on the Nicoya Peninsula with Samara/Punta Islita to our north and Santa Theresa/Mal País on the south. Known as the “tropical dry forest”, the flora and fauna reflect a broad range of the reasons Costa Rica is so attractive.
At 250’ above sea level, we catch the breezes and enjoy the vistas. The air is clean, the water is abundant, and tests clean. Groomed trails lined with multicolored crotons connect the property from end to end and private roads join the houses to the national road which stretches from the top of the peninsula to the bottom.
Zoning is favorable for commercial enterprises, electricity is standard 220/110 V and we have very good and dependable WIFI. Three houses, each with two bedrooms and two complete baths, kitchens, and laundry can support fourteen guests. A pavilion next to the main house has a pool, kitchen, and deck. Two bodegas have provided everything needed for the maintenance of the property and buildings which were designed by the owners who have a background in construction.
There are lots with dramatic ocean views for future expansion as well as quiet wooded areas providing private space. Our mature, well-maintained gardens highlight the wide variety of plants that thrive at this latitude. The mango, papaya, carambola, and banana trees provide smoothie ingredients. Lemons, limes, avocado, cilantro, lemongrass thrive as well, and then there are the flowers and flowering trees.
